Homeownership was just the start for Renaissance’s impact through its programs.
elected as an awardee for Project Reinvest: Homeownership, administered by NeighborWorks America. Renaissance was awarded $2.4 million in grant funds through a competitive process eligible only to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI’s) with a successful history of lending programs. Renaissance was the only organization awarded in Mississippi.
Gloria Harper turned to Renaissance’s Dream Fund program, which allowed her to work at her own pace to reach her financial goal and become a homeowner.
For Precious Collier, a program tailored specifically to address her need for credit assistance helped her work through the Dream program and purchase her first home.
Sonshine Daycare is one of the few remaining area childcare centers that works with the Department of Human Services to provide children in foster care and those from low-income families affordable tuition rates. Renaissance Community Loan Fund helped to make it happen.
Through Renaissance’s personal assistance and favorable lending terms, Bart Cauley was able to secure a loan and purchase a pizza franchise in 2014. It is now a successful family-owned hometown business and top Little Caesars producer in his area.
Algernon Shaw, a homeownership client, was a young entrepreneur who always dreamed of using his artistic talent to provide for his family and become self-employed. Through the assistance of Renaissance’s business loan financing, he was able to secure an equipment loan to produce enough income from sign sales to work full-time as his own employee.
