From Inspiration to Homeownership

During a local Regional Housing Authoritiy’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program meeting, Chakeela became inspired by the success stories of homeowners that had been through RCLF’s home purchase program. The consistent exposure to RCLF and the success stories of previous clients planted a seed of hope and possibility that inspired Chakeela to reach out to RCLF to start her journey. 

After meeting with a Home Purchase Advisor, Chakeela knew the first step to becoming a homeowner was improving her credit and building better spending habits. She quickly began working with one of RCLF’ Home Purchase Advisors and completed RCLF’s free credit counseling and homebuyer education classes. “I was scared to start the process, but the guidance and support of the RCLF team kept me going,” said Chakeela.

The most enjoyable and beneficial part of Chakeela’s experience was the realization that taking the first step was easier than she had imagined. Maria would tell anyone considering the journey to homeownership with RCLF, “What are you waiting for!? It begins with a simple phone call. There is no time like the present. Anytime is the right time when it comes to starting the process. Be open and receptive to the information and direction given to you, and you won’t go wrong.”

With the guidance and support from RCLF, Chakeela not only achieved her goal of becoming a homeowner but also equipped herself with valuable financial knowledge and skills. She now looks forward to helping others in her community take the same steps toward achieving their dreams of owning a home.
